The Ashanti Regional office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) is targeting more than 95 percent complaints resolution in 2025 and beyond.
The Commission in 2024 was able to resolve 95% of the 1,101 complaints lodged against Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL). "Of the 1,101 complaints brought before us, 1,043 were lodged against ECG and 58 against GWCL.
A total amount of GH¢262,558 was received from utility companies as a refund for consumers, and GH¢178,368 as revenue recovery", Ashanti Regional PRO for PURC, Richard Asiedu told 3news.com.
Whilst keen on championing customer satisfaction and value for money, the Commission says it also ensures that utility providers are also not cheated by customers and also duly compensated for damage on their distribution lines, especially by road contractors. "Through our intervention, a total amount of GH¢396,010 was received from road construction companies to Ghana Water Company Limited as compensation for network damage.
