President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government's commitment to the ongoing economic recovery program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), stating that there has been no discussion about extending the program beyond its scheduled end in May 2026.

However, he acknowledged that if economic conditions required additional support, the government would be open to reassessing its options. "We've not talked about an extension of the program.

We are determined to continue with this program… But if it is necessary to look at additional funds or extend the program, we'll look at it," Mahama stated at the Munich Security Conference in Germany on February 14.

His remarks come amid ongoing engagements between Ghana's Ministry of Finance and the IMF regarding key economic issues, including tax rationalization and debt restructuring.
