The National Service Authority (NSA) has introduced a new requirement for prospective graduates registering for national service, that is, a Ghana Card must be obtained.
This is part of efforts to eliminate ghost names from the NSA's payroll.
Mr Felix Gyamfi, the Acting Director-General of the NSA, announced the policy at a press conference in Accra on Thursday, stating that only individuals with a valid Ghana Card would be allowed to register. "… If you do not have a valid Ghana Card ID, you will not be allowed into our system," he emphasised.
He explained that this measure is among several steps being taken to address fraudulent entries on the NSA payroll. "… If you are a prospective graduate and do not have a valid Ghana Card to register, you will not be allowed to do national service.
