A tragic incident in Bawku has claimed the life of a five-month-old baby girl after assailants snatched her from her mother and violently slammed her to the ground, resulting in her death.

The child's mother, who was out selling, was reportedly ambushed by the attackers, severely beaten, and had her baby forcibly taken before the horrific act was committed.

This killing adds to the rising violence in Bawku and along the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway, where ongoing conflict has led to at least 55 deaths since October 2024.

Despite security reinforcements in the area, armed groups continue to launch fatal attacks, deepening fear among residents and travellers.
