The 16 regional representatives to form the next Council of State of Ghana were elected on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, in accordance with Article 89 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
In all, 155 candidates, made up of 145 males and 10 females, contested the elections in the 16 regions of the country.
An electoral college of two representatives from each of the districts in a region elected its representative on the Council of State.
These 16 regional representatives would join at least 9 other persons chosen by President to form the Council of State, which would serve as the body responsible for advising the president on national issues, as stipulated in Chapter 9 of the 1992 Constitution and the Council of State Act 2020 (Act 1037).
