Muhammed Mumuni, the newly elected Northern Regional representative on the Council of State, is advocating for a broader role for the advisory body, emphasizing that its influence should extend beyond offering counsel to the President.
In an interview on Citi FM, he highlighted that while the Council of State has functioned effectively over the years, its full potential has not been realized due to limitations in its operational scope.
Reflecting on the Council's advisory role, Mumuni acknowledged that advice given to the President can either be accepted or rejected, making it essential for discussions to remain private.
However, he believes that the Council's engagement should go beyond the Presidency and extend to other critical institutions, particularly the Parliament.
