One person has been confirmed dead, and six others have sustained gunshot wounds after gunmen ambushed two commercial buses in Binduri, near Bawku in the Upper East Region.
The buses, which were transporting students and traders from Bawku to Bolgatanga under heavy military escort, came under attack by an unidentified armed gang at Bazua.
The gunmen opened fire sporadically, injuring seven occupants.
The injured were transported to an undisclosed health center for treatment, but one of the victims succumbed to his injuries.
