No militia is training in Bawku – Ghana Police

The has refuted allegations that a militia group is training in Bawku, in the Upper East Region. The police indicated that its investigation into the allegation revealed that no such activity is taking place in the Bawku area.
"The has noted with concern a publication alleging the training of some militiamen at Bawku in the Upper East Region.
"We wish to state that our investigation has found no evidence of such training in the area or its environs," part of a post shared by the police. The police urged the public to desist from making such false allegations and vowed to bring persons behind them to book.
"This is the second of such false publications within a week by some unpatriotic individuals intended to create unnecessary alarm and panic among the public.
"The Police are working to bring the perpetrators to book and the public should be assured that we will get them," the post concluded. On Monday, August 19, 2024, the police denied reports alleging the training of some militiamen at Kwahu in the Eastern Region, for the 2024 general elections.
"We wish to state that our investigation has found no evidence of such training in the area."
It added that it had commenced an investigation to identify those behind the false publication to come and answer for their actions in line with the due process of the law
