Ghana's former President, Nana Akufo-Addo, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Namibia's founding President, Sam Nujoma, who died on Saturday at the age of 95 in the capital, Windhoek.
Nujoma was a key figure in Namibia's struggle for independence from South Africa, which was achieved in 1990.
He helped establish the South West Africa People's Organisation (SWAPO) in the 1960s and later became Namibia's first president, serving from 1990 to 2005.
Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba confirmed Nujoma's passing in a statement, noting that he had been hospitalized for the past three weeks due to an illness from which he "could not recover."
