German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has announced his retirement from international football. The 38-year-old, who played a pivotal role in Germany's 2014 World Cup victory, has decided to end his international career after 124 caps. Neuer, a Bayern Munich stalwart, made his international debut in 2009 and featured in eight major tournaments. He captained Germany at the 2018 World Cup before being replaced by Ilkay Gundogan earlier this year. This week, Gundogan also announced his retirement from international football, following in the footsteps of Toni Kroos, who retired after the Euro 2024 tournament.
