The President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, Nene Sakite II has pleaded with the government to release funding to various House of Chiefs to help in the discharge of their duties judiciously and effectively.

Nene Sakite II expressed worry about their meagre travel and transport allowances which have for years not seen any upward adjustment.

Speaking at the General Meeting of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs in Kyebi on Thursday, February 6, Nene Sakite II noted the importance of the House of Chiefs in its arbitration roles in helping reduce the burden of the country's courts.

He emphasised the need for an upward adjustment in their travel and transport allocations. "We call on the central government to release funding for activities on timely basis.
