President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his commitment to operationalising the Komenda Sugar Factory, addressing the long-standing issue of raw material shortages that have hindered its operations.

Speaking during his 'Thank You Tour' of the Central Region on Thursday, February 6, 2025, President Mahama highlighted his vision to make the region Ghana's leading sugar producer.

Mr Mahama has, therefore, directed the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, to promptly provide a status update on the Komenda Sugar Factory to facilitate its completion. "I have asked the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry to provide me with a status update of the Komenda Sugar Factory.

We're determined to proceed and continue with that project so that the central region will become the biggest producer of sugar in Ghana." Read also… One more suspect arrested over Nsoatreman-Kotoko match violence
