In an effort to modernize public transportation in the capital city of Accra, the Accra-Tema City Council, under the direction of President Dr. , launched a new taxi service equipped with 50 brand-new Russian-made cars. The initiative by Nkrumah aimed to provide reliable and modern transportation in the capital. Footage of this event showing vibrant drivers and commuters using the fleet for their various commutes has emerged. Notably, the vehicles were right-hand drives, showcasing Ghana's original driving style before switching to the righ-hand under the 'Operation Keep Right,' introduced by General during his regime. The first fleet of vehicles brought into the country consisted of taxis and vans that often transported workers and individuals from Accra to Tema.
