The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) says the country is likely to experience scarcity of bush meat very soon.

This is basically due to the rapid extinction of wild animals in the country, the Assistant Divisional Officer Grade One (ADOI), Kwame Adomako, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Sunyani.

As the dry season sets in, ADOI Adomako called for a concerted approach to protect wild animals, saying, "we don't hunt for bush meat in the dry seasons".

He reminded that the nationwide ban on group hunting in the season was still in force and appealed to everybody to contribute towards the enforcement of the ban.
