In spite of challenges presented by Ghana's Debt Exchange Program (DDEP), President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his commitment to finishing important infrastructure projects under the Synohydro Program.
During his "Thank You Tour" in the Western Region on February 5, 2025, President Mahama gave an update on the nation's attempts to restructure its debt and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to promoting the development of vital infrastructure.
Major projects like the Takoradi Interchange, the Agona Dualization Project, and important road developments in the Nzema enclave would continue, he promised, thanks to ongoing talks with official and commercial creditors.
In addition to road infrastructure, Mahama highlighted plans to increase railway connections along the western corridor to improve the movement of manganese and bauxite to the port of Takoradi, increasing the area's industrial capacity. "Ghana has been involved in a Debt Exchange Programme, and the DDEP has affected the projects that were packaged under the Synohydro Programme.
