Ghana's new Paralympic team captain Tahiru Haruna has expressed optimism about the team's chances of securing medals at the upcoming Paralympic Games Paris 2024. The Ghanaian team arrived in Paris last Tuesday and is preparing for the Paralympics, scheduled from August 28 to September 8. They will compete in various disciplines, including para-athletics, para-powerlifting, para-cycling, and para-taekwondo. Haruna, elected as team captain by his peers, is a para-powerlifter. He expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to lead the team, emphasizing his dedication to guiding them to success: "I am truly honoured by the trust and support shown by my teammates… I am deeply grateful for this opportunity… I am committed to making good use of it to represent and market Ghana at the Paris 2024 Games by mounting the podium." Although Ghana did not win any medals in the last Paralympics in Tokyo, the team is determined to change that outcome in Paris.
