Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Frederick Acheampong has defended the recent decision to enhance the backroom staff for the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The GFA has appointed Winfried Schäfer as technical advisor to the Black Stars, while also serving as the technical director of the Football Association.
In addition, Desmond Offei, the current head coach of the Black Satellites, has been promoted to the Black Stars' technical bench as an assistant coach, replacing German Joseph Laumann.
Offei will work alongside existing assistants John Paintsil and Fatawu Dauda, who will continue in their roles under head coach Otto Addo.
