Asante Kotoko's Interim Management Committee chairman, Nana Apinkra Akwesi Awuah, has criticised the Ghana Police Service for failing to act swiftly in the violent incident that led to the tragic death of Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley.
Speaking directly to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare during a visit to the club's headquarters, Nana Apinkra expressed deep disappointment with the police officers present at the scene, accusing them of failing to administer first aid or intervene effectively. "I know your men are trained and educated in first-aid treatment.
But when the incident happened, the policemen were just standing there watching," he said. "In some of the videos, one of them was even peeping through the crowd to watch.
But I thought the police were there to handle such situations." IGP Dampare led a high-ranking delegation from the Ghana Police Service to meet with Kotoko officials in Kumasi on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
