The Bank of Ghana has announced that the First Deputy Governor, Dr Maxwell Opoku-Afari, has commenced his leave prior to the end of his contract.

The leave takes effect from February 5, 2025.

This is contained in a press release issued by the Communication Department of the bank dated February 4. "The public is hereby informed that Dr Maxwell Opoku-Afari, the current First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, has decided to proceed on leave from February 5, 2025, prior to the end of his contract.

This has received the approval of H.E President John Mahama," a part of the statement reads.
