Atlanta United have smashed the Major League Soccer transfer record by signing Ivorian forward Emmanuel Latte Lath from Middlesbrough for a reported fee of $22 million to $24 million, including add-ons.
The 26-year-old completed his medical in London on Monday before traveling to finalize the deal with the MLS side.
His transfer eclipses the previous record set earlier this month when FC Cincinnati paid $16.2 million for Kevin Denkey from Cercle Brugge.
Latte Lath had been on the radar of several Premier League and European clubs before Atlanta United secured his services.
