Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Frederick Acheampong has denied reports suggesting that Nsoatreman FC has withdrawn from the Ghana Premier League. Following the violence that erupted at the Nana Kronmansah Park during the Matchday 19 fixture, a game that ended 1-0 in favour of the home side, reports emerged suggesting that the club has withdrawn from the topflight.
The violence has led to the death of a staunch supporter of Kotoko, Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley, who was stabbed to death.
Despite the reports of the FA Cup defending champions pulling out from the Premier League, Acheampong speaking in an interview denied the reports. "We have not received any official notice of Nsoatreman FC's withdrawal from Ghana Premier League," he told Sporty FM.
As part of the measures to bring finality to the issue, the Matchday 20 games have been postponed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
