Professional services firm Deloitte is warning that Ghana's cocoa output-one of the main drivers of the economy-will encounter volatility.
The firm attributes this to climatic conditions, smuggling, and diseases (cacao swollen shoot virus and the black pod, for instance).
Global commodity price fluctuations are also a factor, Deloitte said in its Global Economic Outlook January 2025.
Deloitte further warned governments in Ghana and Nigeria about the threat of high inflation, debt, currency weakness and a restrictive monetary policy environment, describing them as big hurdles for growth in 2025.
