The Chairman of the Appointments Committee of Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor, has disclosed that the committee received a petition against one of President John Dramani Mahama's nominees, but it did not hold any substantial value.

He told Bernard Avle in an interview on The Point of View on Channel One TV that the petition did not fall within the committee's jurisdiction as it was against the nomination itself rather than the vetting process. "We only received one petition, and it is nothing to write home about.

It was a petition against the nomination, and for us, our jurisdiction is invoked after the person is nominated to be vetted. "So if the petition is against the nomination of the person, then the petition should be channeled to the appropriate forum, the one who has the power to nominate," Ahiafor stated.

Upon reviewing the content of the petition, Ahiafor and the Minority Leader concluded that it lacked probative value. "Having looked at the content of the petition, it was nothing to write home about.
