Given the chaos that disrupted the vetting process last Thursday, Bernard Ahiafor, Chairman of Parliament's Appointments Committee, has alleged that Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin insulted Weija-Gbawe MP, Jerry Ahmed Shaib during a heated session.
In an exclusive interview with TV3's Alfred Ocansey, Ahiafor detailed the tense moments, stating, "Afenyo-Markin called Jerry Shaib silly and told him he wasn't doing what he brought him to the vetting to do.
Any member of the committee who listened to them heard the insults." The vetting process, which is a crucial step in assessing the qualifications and credibility of nominees for various ministerial positions, has often been characterized by rigorous questioning and political maneuvering.
However, the reported verbal exchange between Afenyo-Markin and Shaib has drawn attention to the growing friction between the Minority and Majority sides of the committee.
