Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has spoken out about the recent chaotic scenes in Parliament during vetting proceedings, explaining the circumstances that led to the tension.
Speaking on GTV's Breakfast Show monitored by MyNewsGH, he defended his reactions and those of his colleagues, stressing that frustrations had reached a breaking point. "The gentleman we know, the man who is patient, is acting this way because things have gone on and on, and it's getting to a point where your hands are tied," he explained. "They are not even giving you the space, so you lash out because your hands are tied.
It gets to a point in life where you must- that is a reality." Reflecting on the situation, Afenyo-Markin acknowledged that, in hindsight, some things could have been handled differently. "You can always reflect and say, 'Oh, you could have done it better,' but there are times that, looking at the situation, you need to also survive," he stated.
He also described events that transpired during the vetting process, indicating that prior agreements were disregarded. "On Friday morning, we had agreed to a pre-sitting meeting, only to watch on the screens that they were swearing in a nominee.
