A Ghanaian Islamic scholar in Madinah, Royal King­dom of Saudi Arabia, Dr Al- Hadir Abdallah Ishmael, on Thursday graduated from Islamic University of Madinah, College of Quranic Recitation with Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), after he suc­cessfully defended his thesis before a panel of judges.

Dr Ishmael becomes the second Ghanaian to graduate in PhD in Quran Recitation from the prestigious University.

He has been in university since 2010, under a scholarship programme where he obtained his first and second degrees, before capping it all with the PhD programme.

Quranic Recitation otherwise known as Qira'at refers to the ways or style the Holy Book of Islam is recited in terms of prolongation, intonation, and pronunciation of words.
