Management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has disputed claims of causing the death of 20 renal patients due to shortage of renal dialysis consumables. According to them, "there's no record of any deaths during the period of shortages at the Renal Dialysis Unit." Management again refuted allegations of the debt of GHC6 million by the hospital to the supplier of these consumables. "Secondly, the Ministry of Health has settled the arrears due our suppliers. Currently, Korle Bu does not owe GHC6 million to the supplier as is being falsely alleged," they further refuted They however say measures are being put in place to restore outpatient services by the end of the week. "In respect of the reopening of the Dialysis Unit, we received a new shipment of consumables through the Tema port last week. We are now in the process of clearing a second shipment with the support of the Ministries of Health and Finance. Inpatient dialysis services resumed on Monday, August 12 and we expect to restore outpatient services by the end of this week," Management assured.
