Security Analyst, Adam Bonaa, has said the events of the 2020 elections could repeat themselves this year if authorities do not take appropriate action. In an interview on Neat FM's 'Ghana Montie' on August 20, 2024, Adam Bonaa warned that delays in releasing the provisional voters register to the various political parties could spell disaster for the country and the upcoming elections. "I don't think it's good enough. This thing [provisional voters register] should have been given to the political parties long ago because fortunately we are in a digitisation age and so you press a button and everyone's name appears. "If you want to transfer the file using some protocols, you can transfer, but to wait till less than 24 hours for the exercise [voter exhibition] to begin before releasing the list, what if the political parties say the list is incomplete, how are you going to do that analysis? All these things do not augur well for the upcoming elections," he said. Bonaa further posited that the issues which normally lead to violence are currently gaining ground and the least provocation could exacerbate the situation. "What happened previously in the 2020 elections is coming back again and if we are not careful things might not be the way it's always is.
