President John Dramani Mahama has been urged by the Ghana Coalition Against Galamsey to act swiftly in response to claims of illicit mining involving Oscar Larbi, the Member of Parliament for Aowin.
In a letter to Jubilee House on January 30, the coalition-which consists of news outlets, labor unions, religious institutions, and traditional leaders-voiced its concerns and emphasized the urgency of taking action to resolve the matter, according a report by citinwsroom.com.
According to reports, illicit mining operations have impacted the Tano Anwia Forest Reserve in the Aowin Municipality of the Western North Region, which is the focus of the accusations.
According to the local traditional leaders, Oscar Larbi is responsible for bringing in illegal miners whose actions are harmful and demeaning.
