A former Member of Parliament of Lower West Akim in the Eastern Region, Gifty Klenam, on the ticket of the (NPP), has defected to the ruling (NDC).
In a video shared by TV3 on their Instagram page on Thursday, January 30, 2025, it showed Gifty beaming with smiles, while proudly displayed her membership card of the NDC.
She remarked, "This is my new family card, NDC ey3 zu." Gifty Klenam, who previously served as an MP on the ticket of the opposition (NPP), won the Lower West Akim seat twice, in 2008 and 2012.
However, she faced a setback in 2016 when she lost her bid in the NPP's parliamentary primaries.
