Former Deputy Finance Minister Abena Osei-Asare has announced that Ghana has reached a key milestone in its debt restructuring process following the final endorsement of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by six remaining Partner Creditor Countries.

In a Facebook post on 30 January 2025, Osei-Asare described the development as a major step towards economic recovery.

She attributed the achievement to prudent fiscal management, strategic negotiations, and decisive policies implemented under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

She commended the leadership of the then Finance Minister, Mohammed Amin Adam, stating that his efforts enabled Ghana to navigate complex financial discussions and secure favourable debt relief terms.
