Former Black Stars and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mallam Yahaya has endorsed the Ghana Football Association's (GFA) decision to appoint Winfried Schäfer as the new Technical Director of the Black Stars.
The 75-year-old German joins the Black Stars' technical team, which was restructured following Ghana's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
In a statement released on January 28, 2025, the GFA described Schäfer as a highly experienced and accomplished manager, highlighting his four-decade career with national teams such as Cameroon, Jamaica, and Thailand, as well as clubs like VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
He has been tasked with working closely with Otto Addo to build a competitive team.
