A significant majority of Ghanaians have considered emigrating, primarily to seek better economic opportunities, according to the latest Afrobarometer survey.
The data reveals a sharp rise in the number of citizens contemplating leaving the country since 2017.
The proportion of Ghanaians who have given serious thought to emigration has more than doubled, increasing from 20% in 2017 to 44% in 2025.
Overall, 61% of respondents have considered leaving, marking a 20-percentage-point rise from six years ago.
