The timely intervention of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service prevented a middle-aged man from committing suicide. Alfred Agoma, who claimed to be from Ashaiman Lebanon, in the Greater Accra Region, climbed an electrically-wired high-tension pole in an attempt to end his life after being diagnosed with kidney failure. In a video shared by an account on X, thehighestblog, Alfred Agoma said he could not afford his medical bills when he was referred to the UGMC hospital.
"When I got diagnosed with kidney sickness, I went to visit the health centre, Ashiaman polyclinic. They directed me to visit the Tema General Hospital.
"I proceeded to Tema General Hospital but when I got there, they told me to seek healthcare from the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC). I have tried all means but it has proved futile and now I'm tired," he said.
