The Minister-designate for the North East Region, Tia Ibrahim, has assured that when given the nod, he will ensure the 24 hours policing on the WaleWale- Bolgatanga stretch of the region, to curb criminal activities in the on the roads.
This, he said, was necessary to protect lives and property.
Mr Ibrahim, who gave the assurance when he appeared before Parliament's Appointments committee during his vetting yesterday, stressed that there was the need more visibility of police men to deal with the issue with all the seriousness it deserves.
He stated that he would also keep engaging all traditional leaders and the communities to find a long-lasting solution to the problem of security at all levels "The rampant armed robbery cases going on in the regions is disheartening and therefore, pragmatic measures needs to be put in place to salvage the situation as a matter of urgency," he added.
