One Ofosu-Appiah Daniel has petitioned the Office of the President for the removal of the Electoral Commission(EC) chairperson, Jean Adukwei Mensa pursuant to Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution.
The petition also seeks the removal of the Deputy Commissioner of EC in charge of Corporate Services, Dr Bossman Asare, the Deputy Chairperson of EC in charge of operations Samuel Tettey and an Electoral Commission (EC) member, Dr Peter Appiahene.
In the letter dated Monday, January 27, the petitioner points to constitutional breaches such as incompetence, bias, actions and inactions that undermine public confidence in the election management body.
According to the petitioner, the EC chairperson, the two deputies together with the member of the commission enjoy the same privileges and protections akin to that of the justices of the Supreme Court.
