Regional Minister-Designate for the North East Region, Ibrahim Tia, has expressed concerns about the public treatment of individuals accused of witchcraft residing at the Gambaga witches' camp.
He acknowledged that the camp served as a refuge for those labelled as witches but suggested that individuals should have the freedom to either stay or voluntarily leave the camp.
Appearing before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on January 27, Mr Tia stressed the need for a holistic approach to addressing the issues surrounding the Gambaga Witches' camp, with a focus on better integrating the alleged witches into society. "The Gambaga witches camp served as a home for the witches.
When he [traditional leader] proves that you are not a witch, they allow you to go back.
