A group of aggrieved youth, believed to be affiliated with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), gathered at the headquarters of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Monday, January 27, to block Anthony Sarpong, the newly appointed Acting Commissioner-General, from assuming office.

The protest follows President John Dramani Mahama's announcement on January 21, naming Mr.

Sarpong as the Acting Commissioner-General of the GRA, a key institution responsible for the country's tax collection and revenue mobilisation.

The appointment was widely viewed as a strategic effort to strengthen Ghana's revenue systems amid fiscal challenges.
