Security analyst Adam Bonaa has labelled the appointment of Maame Tiwaa Addo-Danquah as the Executive Director of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) a mistake, sparking conversations about whether political appeasement influenced the decision.
Bonaa argued that the move was less about competence and more about satisfying personal and political interests, a trend he warned could compromise the effectiveness of key institutions in Ghana while speaking on Starr Today with Efia Tutuwaa Danso. "It was a mistake because, you see, it's not for the President to satisfy Maame Tiwaa's ego," Bonaa stated emphatically.
He pointed out that Maame Tiwaa's dissatisfaction with her previous position as the head of the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPS) likely influenced the decision to place her at EOCO. "She felt she was too big to take up the position at the Police Professional Standards Bureau.
She wasn't happy with that role, so they felt they had to give her something better," he added.
