Spokesperson for President John Dramani Mahama who is also Minister-designate for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has justified the appointment of Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability.
He explained that climate change issues are now given utmost priority in most countries.
These countries, he said, are gravitating toward committing more resources to addressing the issue of climate change.
Asked why this appointment was made when it could have been given to the Ministry of Environment to handle, he said on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, January 25 that "climate change is on the front burner in many countries, it is the number one issue…powerful countries are gravitating towards putting in more resources to ensure they overcome it. "The Minister is an advisor at the presidency at the policy level…president Mahama thought through and determined what he needed," he said.
