The (EC) has announced that all temporary staff engaged in the voter's register exhibition and the upcoming elections will be compensated with daily rates ranging from GH¢130 to GH¢2,000. According to a memo signed by the Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services and distributed to all Regional Directors on August 14, 2024, Supervisors will receive GH¢2,000, Deputy Supervisors will be paid GH¢1,800, and Exhibition Officers will earn GH¢130 per day. The memo also outlined the allowances for election duties: Returning Officers will receive GH¢7,000, Deputy Returning Officers GH¢ 6,000, Technicians GH¢ 2,500, Presiding Officers GH¢ 800, Name Reference Officers GH¢600, Verification Officers GH¢600, and Ballot Issuers GH¢ 600. The EC clarified that unlike in previous years, where Returning Officers and Deputies were paid a fixed amount for all election-related activities, in 2024, they will be compensated separately for tasks such as registration, transfers, proxy voting, compilation of the special voters register, and recruitment of officials.
