Interior Minister-designate and Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak has expressed his displeasure with how inmates are fed, berating the "dehumanising" treatment to prisoners.

The ministerial nominee noted that he was left in shock to find out that inmates are fed a daily meal amounting to GHC1.80 per inmate.

He bemoaned the treatment given to prisoners and assured that when given the nod, more attention will be extended to prisoners in Ghana. "Even feeding, when I heard it yesterday, I was shocked that we can treat each other that way.

Today, the rationing for a prisoner in Ghana is GHC1.80 for the whole day and I will doubt with the greatest respect to these members of the Committee and those listening to us that even the cats and dogs in our houses, how much food do we give them that we put our own compatriots because of one mistake or the other in trying to correct them we feed them with GHC1.80," he said.
