Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Minister-Designate for the Interior, has pledged to prioritize peacebuilding and stability in Bawku and other conflict-prone areas across Ghana.
During his vetting before Parliament's Appointments Committee on Friday, January 24, the Asawase Member of Parliament outlined his commitment to addressing the long-standing tensions in the Upper East Region and beyond.
Muntaka promised to collaborate closely with President John Dramani Mahama, local authorities, traditional leaders, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a sustainable resolution to the violence that has plagued Bawku.
He acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, citing official reports that recent conflicts in the area have claimed 41 lives.
