Majority leader in Parliament, Dr.
Cassiel Ato Forson has described as needless any call for investigation by Parliament into the Obuasi mine clash.
Addressing the press on Tuesday, January 21, the finance minister-designate who has been approved by the House explained that President Mahama had already directed a full-scale investigation into the matter, therefore there won't be any need for another investigation by Parliament.
The Ajumako-Enyam-Essiam MP noted that as the three organs of government (Judiciary, Legislature and Judiciary), they cannot topple work being one by another rather, a collective effort from all three organs is what is needed to govern the country. "His Excellency the President has already ordered a full-scale investigation into that matter [Obuasi deaths] so I don't think there is the need for us to open another investigation in Parliament. "This will mean duplication of government function and government is made up both the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary and all of us come together to manage the country and the fact that one has started an investigation, there is no need for us to open another investigation," he told the media at Parliament.
