The Oti Regional Minister-Designate, John Kwadwo Gyapong has pledged to engage stakeholders to establish food processing factories in the region once he assumes responsibility as the region's minister.
Speaking during his vetting before Parliament's Appointments Committee, Gyapong highlighted the abundance of land in the Oti Region citing the region's repute in ginger, cocoa, cassava and yam production.
According to him, the region falls short of processing factories despite its contribution to the agricultural sector.
He assured to engage with relevant stakeholders to establish food processing factories, adding value to the farm produce and also providing employment for the youth in the region. "When I get the nod, I am going to consult stakeholders who will come to establish processing factories in cocoa, ginger, cassava and yam production in the region.
