President John Dramani Mahama has assured of his commitment to safeguarding the right to free speech and expression as enshrined in the 1992 Constitution.
During a meeting with the leadership of the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana, the President expressed regret over Ghana's recent decline in the Press Freedom Index over the last eight years.
He promised to take decisive action to restore the country's reputation as a place where the rights of citizens to freely express their views and access to information are upheld. "The government will continue to guarantee that freedom.
And I know that under the last administration, there were a lot of issues to do with us being downgraded on the Press Freedom Index and all that.
