A unique moment of camaraderie took place in Parliament on January 22, 2025, during the vetting of George Opare Addo, the Minister-designate for Youth Development and Empowerment.

In an exchange that piqued interest, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin publicly recognised Opare Addo as a fellow Freemason, drawing attention to the role of the fraternal organisation among Ghana's public figures.

What made the exchange even more significant was the political divide between the two men: Opare Addo is a member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), while Afenyo-Markin is aligned with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The conversation began when Afenyo-Markin, who is also a Freemason, directly questioned Opare Addo about his affiliation with the secret society.
