In a candid interview on Kessben FM, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua, has responded to internal calls for accountability regarding the party's loss in the 2024 elections.
Kodua revealed that he has specifically identified certain party members who may attempt to blame him for the NPP's defeat, adding that they would soon "hear from him." Kodua's statement, made against the backdrop of the NPP's electoral loss, delved into the party's internal decision-making processes and the events leading up to the December 7 election.
He emphasized that elections are not a single event, but rather a series of steps and decisions made long before voters head to the polls.
He highlighted the six-month period between the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s selection of John Mahama as their candidate in May 2023 and the NPP's eventual nomination of their own candidate in November 2023. "If the candidate is not the sitting president, and you give your opponent so much time, they will be ahead of you before the election even begins," Kodua stated, stressing the importance of early preparation in a fiercely competitive electoral landscape.
