The Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has strongly criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) for insensitive attempt to politicise the recent clashes in Obuasi, in the Ashanti Region, which claimed nine lives.
He condemned the NPP for prioritising political point-scoring over showing compassion to the bereaved families.
Dr Forson, speaking at a press briefing outside Parliament on Tuesday, urged all stakeholders to focus on finding solutions to prevent similar tragedies. "The NPP Minority is dabbling in cheap politics by creating a misleading impression that the unfortunate demise of the miners was caused by political violence.
This is not the time for desperate political point-scoring but for unity and support for the affected families," he stated.
