The Kintampo Divisional Police Command in the Bono East Region has arrested two persons for allegedly smuggling and transporting over 150 bags of cocoa beans to neighbouring Burkina Faso.

The two; Paul Milungu, 26 and Mohammed Bagaya, 22, who are both Burkinabes, according to the police, were arrested on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Portor, a suburb of Kintampo upon a tip off.

According to the police, the two suspects loaded the cocoa beans together with several packs of black polythene bags and used clothes in a DAF Cargo truck with registration number 3166D306, from Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra and were heading to the neighbouring Burkina Faso.

But, upon reaching Portor, a suburb of Kintampo, they stopped to take some rest and continue their journey later, a Ghanaian citizen who saw them and suspected something fishy, informed the police through a telephone call leading to their arrest.
